Report on Years Activities
Knockouts – The Ottawa Branch hosted 4 individual Knockout events that took place on Nov 4th, Jan 6th, Mar 2nd and the finals on April 6th. Some changes are made from the 2023-2024 year. There is an additional knockout moving the branch to 5 events to help improve logistics. So far this addition seems to have helped with the organization and timing.
Amateur Piobaireachd – On Apr 6th 2024, we hosted our annual Amateur Piobaireachd contest which was won by Jean-Sebastien Gamache. It was a successful event and will be included again this year on Saturday, April 5th 2025.
Ottawa Branch Indoor – This took place on May 4th 2024. It was a success, the turnout was very good and we made significant profit. There was 14 Bands, 45 Pipers, 27 Piobaireachd, 15 Snare and 8 Mid-Section participants. There was no band financial awards but we are looking into having some monetary awards for bands for the event which will be occurring on Saturday, May 10th 2025 at St.Michaels Catholic High School in Kemptville. Further information be shared via our website, social media and newsletter
Glengarry Cup – This years event was on September 28th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in the Glebe. It ran alright. Improvements need to be made on some logistics ie. Venue and bar. There were 13 contestants with the Cup being awarded to Tyler Bridge. The event will take place on Saturday, September 27th 2025, information regarding the venue and further details will be announced as they become available.

!! Thinking Forward - Band Advisory Committee
The Ottawa Branch would like to start a Band Advisory Committee which would meet maybe 3 times a year in person. The Branch would like to request that each band with in the Ottawa Branch appoints to have one representative and emails the branch (info@ppbso-ottawa.org) by Dec 31 as a tentative start date. This is to provide input from their band of our the Branch can better support them.
PPBSO AGM Ontario
PPBSO AGM is on December 7th at 10:00am by Zoom. Quick overview that there are new bylaws being proposed at their AGM and once passed we will have to abide by them as well.
When questions about the law suit, the response was that we are not allowed to discuss it and that there is no impact to our specific branch. Our branch will continue to focus on our business and region. All allegations have nothing to do with our branch. Our financials would not be impacted, and all organizations have insurance for situations like this.
Membership Dues
There is no impact to the dues being charged this year. There was one statement that they may revised the PPSBO membership fees this year for younger players (under 16) but not confirmed yet.
Thank you to everyone for this conversation and fruitful meeting
